Further Information:
Found on open ground in various habitats, espcially garigue. When disturbed, adults fly in short bursts revealing the bright red hindwings. Very common. (A similar species is the grasshopper Oedipoda miniata, which also has the typical red coloration on its hindwings; this species however is rarer and more robust.)
